Don’t Be Complacent Despite Positive Fitch, Global InfoAnalytics Polls – Mahama Tells NDC

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has responded to recent opinion polls forecasting his lead in the 2024 general elections. Reports from Fitch Solutions, a UK-based rating agency, and Global InfoAnalytics, indicate that Mahama is currently in a strong position ahead of his main competitor, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

While addressing supporters in the North East Region on October 2, Mahama highlighted these polls as evidence of a likely NDC victory. He referenced findings from reputable organizations such as Fitch Solutions and Global InfoAnalytics, which show him maintaining a significant lead. However, Mahama urged his followers not to become complacent, stressing the need for constant vigilance to safeguard the electoral process.

Mahama also accused the ruling NPP of circulating manipulated polls to create a misleading impression of victory for Dr. Bawumia. He claimed that these “fake polls” lack transparency, citing the absence of clear methodologies and verifiable sources. According to him, credible institutions like the Economy Intelligence Unit, Fitch Solutions, and Global InfoAnalytics all point to an NDC win, reinforcing the accuracy of the forecasts in his favor.

Global InfoAnalytics’ most recent field poll places Mahama with 51.1% of the vote, presenting a considerable advantage over Dr. Bawumia. Fitch Solutions’ report similarly predicts a favorable outcome for the NDC, pointing to significant challenges faced by the NPP under the current government. Despite these findings, Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team has dismissed the poll results from Global InfoAnalytics, questioning their reliability.

Mahama concluded his remarks by encouraging supporters to remain dedicated and committed to ensuring that each vote is properly accounted for, emphasizing that everyone must play an active role in the election, including serving as polling agents to protect the integrity of the process.
