I Don’t Care If You Vote For Mahama Or Bawumia – NPP’s Cynthia Morrison Says As She Announces Decision To Go Independent

Cynthia Morrison, the Member of Parliament for Agona West, has announced her intention to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

In a recent address to her constituents, Ms. Morrison, who previously served as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, emphasized that her decision is driven by a commitment to the development of Agona rather than allegiance to party politics.

This move follows her defeat in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries on April 13, where she secured 152 votes compared to her opponent, Christopher Arthur, who won with 240 votes.

Despite this setback, Ms. Morrison remains focused on serving her community. She reassured constituents that her priority is advancing the progress of Agona, regardless of the outcome of the presidential race, whether it involves former President John Dramani Mahama or Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Ms. Morrison urged voters to support her so she can continue the projects she initiated during her time in office. First elected as the MP for Agona West in 2016 and re-elected in 2020, she has been a prominent figure in the constituency’s political landscape. Her decision to run independently marks a significant shift in her political journey as she seeks to continue her work outside the party framework.
