The flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his view that Ghana needs a new president to steer the country towards a better future. Speaking during a Youth Connect programme on his campaign trail, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of electing a fresh leader who has not previously held the presidency.
Dr. Bawumia remarked, “We are going to elect a new President in December 2024. When I say a new president, I mean a new President and not a second-hand president. We are going to elect a president who will take us into the future, not a president who will take us back into the past.”
Highlighting the need for forward-thinking leadership, he added, “We are looking forward; we are not going backwards. We want a president who thinks about possibilities, not impossibilities. We want Ghana to become a beacon for all African countries for all the world to see what can be done with possibilities. Former President Mahama is a former president; let’s maintain him as a former president.”
Dr. Bawumia’s comments convey his belief that Ghana’s progress depends on new leadership that can bring innovative solutions and a fresh perspective to the country’s challenges.
