NDC Cancels Suspension Of Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate; Suspends Regional Chairman For ‘Mafia Work’

Published

on

Fiifi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared the suspension and withdrawal of the party’s Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate, Nurudeen Shaibu Migyimah, null and void. The Functional Executive Committee of the NDC met over the issue and decided to reinstate Migyimah as their parliamentary candidate.

The decision follows a letter signed by Kwetey, which also details disciplinary actions taken against regional and constituency executives. Central Regional Chairman Prof. Richard Asiedu has been suspended for one month effective immediately and referred to the national Disciplinary Committee on charges of anti-party conduct. Similarly, Sadique Broni, the Constituency Secretary of Assin Central, is suspended for one month and referred to the national Disciplinary Committee on the same charge.

The controversy began when the Central Regional NDC suspended Migyimah for allegedly engaging in an immoral act involving the wife of the Constituency Secretary. Following an internal disciplinary process, the regional committee decided to withdraw his candidacy and suspend him from the party for six months.

Despite these regional decisions, the NDC’s national leadership has reversed Migyimah’s suspension, reinstating him as the party’s candidate for Assin Central. The disciplinary measures against Prof. Asiedu and Broni underline the party’s commitment to addressing internal conflicts and maintaining order within its ranks.
