The Vice-Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, Robert Sarbah has revealed that, transport fares would be reduced by 10% starting August 1.

Mr. Sarbah said, the new directive had been necessary because there was no longer social distancing in commercial vehicles.

This new directive was announced after stakeholders in the transport business had met in a meeting to discuss the way to go after the president eased the social distancing restrictions in commercial vehicles in his address to the nation yesterday, July 27.

Earlier in July, transport fares had increased by 15%  due to hikes in fuel prices and the inability to carry the regular number of passengers due to the COVID-19 social distancing policy.
