Asuma Banda Says His Son, Fadel Banda Collapsed Antrak Air After Handing Over To Him

According to reports, Alhaji Asumah Banda and his son Fadel Banda started fighting when the latter failed Ankrak Air, one of his father’s firms.

The airline reportedly received a Gh400 million investment from the father, who then gave it to his son Fadel Asumah Banda to operate with his mother.

In September 2003, the local Ghanaian airline Antrak began operations. It provided regular domestic, regional, and international flights as well as charter flights throughout West Africa. 

The Kotoka International Airport served as its main HQ.

From its inception in 2003 until its demise in 2012, Antrak Air, which operated flights from Accra to Kumasi, Tamale, Sunyani, Takoradi, and back to Accra, had 4 aircraft.

According to investigations, Alhaji Asoma Banda, Fadel Banda, William Asare, Abigail Asamoah, and Kwaku Antwi-Bosiako served as directors of Antrak, with Fadel and his mother holding the majority of the shares.

Alhaji Banda gave management and control to his son and first wife at the height of its dominance as a compromise so they could get by.

The only local airline at the time went bankrupt in less than five years.

Alhaji Asuma Banda, a business magnate, has subsequently disowned Fadel Asuma Banda and barred him from seeing him, calling him rude.

According to family insiders, the son’s claimed poor management of Antrak Air is the cause of the elderly man’s rage.

The former Member of the Council of State bemoaned his son’s lack of respect for him, saying that no matter how disrespectful a person is, it should not be extended to one’s parents.

According to him, unlike his son, he showed the utmost respect to his father, serving him with honour. This, he said, earned him his father’s blessings which have led to his success in life.
