Some participants in Kumasi’s “Walk for Alan” on Sunday are furious because the organizers let them down.
It turned out that individuals were bused in from various parts of the country to augment the numbers for the walk, which was organized as a walk for Alan Kyeremateng, the Trade Minister.
Many of the walkers who were attracted by the promise of honey and sugar are now regretting leaving their homes to join the walk for such a meager sum.
Some of the participants can be seen berating the organizers in viral videos for enticing them from their home regions to Kumasi just to feed them meager fare for more than 24 hours.
Participants from Accra on one bus may be seen on video furious because they were only handed 50 Cedis after traveling so far from Accra the night before for the morning walk.
“You give me a quick glance before giving me 50 cedis. One passenger on the bus headed for Accra asked, “What am I going to do with it?”
I last took a bath yesterday. I had a bath at seven o’clock and arrived at the bus stop at eight o’clock. We left Accra at about one in the morning. Since then, I’ve had a bath. I haven’t even slept yet, yet I’m thirsty, hungry, and both. You looked at me and gave me 50 Cedis after I closed my store and came here for a stroll. Another passenger in the bus mourned, “I am also a delegate, and we shall see when the time comes.
Many people from various regions of the country who were recruited for the walk were also spotted exchanging words with those who recruited them about how they had been duped by mouthwatering promises that never came to pass, as quoted by MynewsGh.com.
