8-year-old primary three female student who excelled in the recently concluded reading competition has gained internet fame.
They presented the outstanding Samelia Mekporsigbe, a class 3 student at Battor DA Primary School and winner of the Volta Regional Reading Competition sponsored by the USAID Learning initiative, to their member of parliament, Okudzeto Ablakwa, under the direction of a successful delegation from North Tongu Director of Education, Mrs. Isabella Regina Ayimey.
The outstanding 8-year-old daughter of a NABCo trainee won the competition against 17 other district winners at the circuit, district, and regional levels before moving on to represent the Vollta Region at the national level in a few weeks.
The lawmaker gave Samelia a Samsung tablet with free internet access and a large selection of e-reading materials.
Additionally, she has been included to the MP’s scholarship program to get additional academic support up to her graduation from college. She expressed her desire to become a judge to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. She can realize her dream thanks to her aptitude for reading.
In addition, Ablakwa distributed GHc3,000 in cash to help students in their reading competition preparations.
