The government spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has said former president John Mahama does not have the moral right to criticise the government over the current economic challenges confronting Ghana.
Mahama has lashed out at the government recently attributing the current economic challenges in the country to what he describes as “general incompetence and corruption” in the Akufo-Addo-led government.
“Indeed we all recollect some of those mouth-watering promises including one by the current President to transform this country Ghana within 18 months,” he noted, adding that hardship created by the bad governance of the Akufo-Addo-led government has never been witnessed in the country before in the past 30 years,” Mahama said at the launch of TEIN App in Accra.
Reacting to the development on Asaase Radio, Boakye-Danquah attributed the current economic situation to external factors.
“There is a challenge globally, that is why as a government we are managing the situation. The President has also tasked the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta and Minister of Energy Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh to hold consultative meetings with the various agencies to ensure that we find solutions, where government is wanting to beef up and cushion the ordinary Ghanaians so that fuel price hikes will be minimised,” he said.
“…The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also stated that he is going to inject GHC 2 billion into the economy, and so as it is the global challenge which is affecting every economy, Ghana is managing this very effectively, ” he said.
