Meteo Agency Staff Embark On Strike Over Poor Condition Of Service

The staff of the Ghana Meteorological Agency say they are embarking on an indefinite strike effective Friday, February 18, 2022, to press home their demand for better conditions of service.

According to the aggrieved staff, their move follows failed attempts to get the Minister for Communications and Digitalization dated 5th January 2022 to address their issues.

A statement from the Leadership of the Staff said they have resolved to embark on an indefinite strike action starting from Friday to push their demands.

The Ghana Meteorological Agency is charged with the responsibility of providing information on weather situations on a daily basis. It also keeps meteorological watch over the Flight Information Region (FIR) for the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.

Their planned strike could affect several sectors including aviation, industry, civil engineering, agriculture, forestry,, tourism, among others.
