School pupils of Breman Essuokor D/A Basic School in the Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa District of the Central Region have boycotted classes and have threatened to shut down the school over shortage of teachers.
Over 100 of these angry pupils wearing red bands on their heads holding placards on which they have expressed their concerns hit the street of Breman Essuokor in a demonstration to alert Opinion leaders of the community to fight harder for them to get teachers.
Speaking in an interview with EIB Network Central Regional Correspondent Yaw Boagyan, these angry pupils said the entire school is having only one teacher who teaches at Junior High School from JHS one to JHS three which doesn’t promote good teaching and learning.
They claimed they have written several letters to the Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa District Education Officer and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) for them to give them teachers but all have proved futile.
The pupils said they are giving the Government one week to give them teachers else they will all stop going to the school but will attend school in a different District.
They vowed to make sure the school has been shut down completely till they get adequate teachers.
They further threatened to storm the Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa Education office with a massive demonstration to show their displeasure to the Education Director for refusing to assign them with Teachers.
