NDC Can’t Dictate to Government – Stephen Amoah On E-levy

Stephen Amoah, a member of the finance committee of Parliament has said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana’s parliament cannot dictate to the government regarding the controversial E-Levy.

Touching on the minority’s insistence to oppose the yet-to-be passed levy, Dr Amoah said: “We will also pass the E-Levy. So, the opposition party is determining what a government should do? Ghanaians voted for this government; they give us our mandate. So, they should leave us to govern this country and in 2024, if they (Ghanaians) are not happy with the performance of the government, they’ll vote against us.”

“…They (minority) know that the E-Levy is coming to solve most of our problems, they know that the E-Levy is good that is why they are behaving that way. Let’s all keep quiet and if the NDC thinks the E-Levy is not good, they should allow us to pass this bill and you’ll see what will happen in Ghana,” the Nhyiaeso MP told Beatrice Adu on The Big Bulletin.

He added: “And that’s what they (NDC) are afraid of, they don’t want this country to move on so that Ghanaians will be against them again.”
