NPP Government Is Broke And Can’t Pay Contractors – Former Deputy Roads Minister

Former Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, Owusu Oduomi, has openly admitted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), despite naming 2021/2022 as the Year of Roads, is having major financial difficulties funding these projects.

President Akufo-government Addo’s is failing to pay contractors, according to the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu and Ashanti Regional Chairman candidate.

Speaking on Oyerepa, he indicated that the government requires additional funding in order to carry out the promise of the Year of Roads.

“The reality is that the government, as they have stated, does not have enough money to pay contractors. Another motive for the E-levy was to allow them to pay off their obligations, according to Oduomi.

“Our roads are the biggest difficulty in the Ashanti region.” Take, for example, Kwabre roads. The truth is that in the region, road projects have been awarded. You’d be surprised if I told you how many contracts I have. Only 8% of our roads are in decent condition, as I discovered when creating a script for Kyei Mensah. To say the least, our roads are in horrible shape. To fix them, we’ll need a lot of money. That’s how terrible the situation is, the government owes contractors only to fix potholes,” he bemoaned.

“I don’t understand why Ghanaians blame contractors when contractors quit roads due to the government’s failure to pay them.”
