The Ex-President, John Dramani Mahama has taken a subtle jab at the NPP government over the deployment of forces brouhaha.
Reports in the Ghanaians media space suggests that, there have been military deployments to the Volta, Oti, Upper East and Upper West Regions of Ghana.
Rumors have it that, the deployments were done to prevent foreigners from taking part in the voters registration exercise.
An article published by ex-president Mahama suggests that, the deployment represents an abuse of power by the government.
“This represents another unprecedented low in the shameless abuse of state power to attack the very citizens whose safety and security the Akufo-Addo government should be protecting”.
Furthermore, he accused the government of putting fear in the citizens in order to rig the elections.
“A government that can put fear in some of its citizens just to rig elections, is a clear and present danger to all citizens and it is only a matter of time before the tyranny and oppression reaches your own doorstep. Let us rally to the defense of our brethren in the affected regions and stop this power-drunk government in its tracks before they plunge our beautiful country into irredeemable anarchy“.
He urges the citizenry to be concerned and not to be lulled into a false sense of security in the thinking that, this is happening far away from from them.
