Some agitated New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the Sefwi Juaboso District in the Western North region have been harassing assembly members who voted against President Akufo-Addo’s nominee, Godfred Kwabena Adjei Asante, as the District Chief Executive (DCE).
According to reports, the supporters besieged some assembly members to demand money they allege was given to them a 100 per cent vote in favour of the nominee.
The nominee had 11 ‘Yes’ votes out of 23 assembly members present during the time of voting.
According to joynews, an amount ranging from ¢1000 to ¢4000 was given to each assembly member.
The assembly members have however refused to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile the police have intervened to restore calm.
