The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the government of Ghana has apologize to the Nigerian High Commission. Represented by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Bochway expressed how sorry the government was about the incidence of the demolition of a structure at the Nigerian High Commissioner’s residence.
Hon. Shirley Ayorkor was at the scene with her deputy and other staff of her ministry and promised that, government would thoroughly investigate the actions behind the incident.
She assured that the outcome would be transparent to the public.
“We will do all we can to look into the matter and make suggestions. The government has taken hold of this matter and will ensure that the right thing is done… We say sorry, we are very sorry that this has happened,” she said.
There was also a visit by the Inspector General OF Police (IGP) and the National Security Minister, Mr. Albert Kan-Dapaah.
This was what the IGP had to say to some media persons present:
“As far as I know, the CID is investigating and whatever comes out we will let the authorities know,” he said.
Earlier, there was a protest from some group of Nigerians in Ghana on the road leading to the High Commissioners’ Resident on what they claimed to be biased and unfavorable treatment meted out to some Nigerians in the country.
The Nigerians also registered their displeasure on most shops located at the Kwame Nkrumah circle being locked by the Ghana Union of Traders for almost a year now.
