The National Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, known as, Nana B has expressed contentment with the judgement by the Cape Coast High Court on Wednesday, July 28, annulling results of the 2020 Parliamentary Elections.
According to him the judgement is a victory for rule of law.
Addressing the press after the ruling, Nana B said “today is another victory for rule of law. This a petition that was filed by our own friend Michael Ankomah-Nimfah.
“Today the court, after almost six months has upheld our position and the petitioner’s position for that matter. We had repeatedly said Honourable Quayson at the time of filing his nomination to contest as an MP was a Canadian and also a Ghanaian.”
Meanwhile the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has described the judgment as a travesty of justice.
Addressing the press after the ruling, Mr Ampofo said the judges’ decision came as a shock to the NDC and its lawyers.
According to him, parties to the case knew that a ruling by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, July 27 directed that due processes are followed to transfer the case to the apex court of Ghana for hearing.
