More than thirty inmates in two police cells in the Central Region have tested positive for Covid-19 according to the regional police commander.
ACP Paul Awuni, however, said the affected inmates are being attended to by medical officers.
The first case was a little over four weeks ago in Kasoa where some of our inmates tested positive. But we are working together closely with the District Public Health Emergency Management Committees. All these inmates who have tested positive were treated in the police cells. Currently, we are having an issue in Assin Fosu where some inmates have also tested positive,” he said.
Ghana has recorded 339 new cases increasing the country’s tally to 12,929, according to the Ghana Health Service.
