The Ghana statistical Service(GSS) in preparation for the 2020 national population census has decided to organise virtual training for the necessary stakeholders to be involved in this exercise.
The population census exercised which was to be organized from June 28 of this year, had rather been postponed indefinitely as a result of the Covid19 pandemic.
Mr Samuel Anim, who happens to be the government’s statistician revealed that despite the challenges, the necessary prior works on the field have started as part of the effective preparations towards this exercise.
This was what he had to say “…We still are pursuing the needed preparatory activity to ensure that we do not lose out on the decennial conduct of the 2020 population housing census. We are of the view that, with the 28th June, 2020 that we set for the census because of the current restrictions on a ban on public gatherings including workshops and conferences, we will not be able to proceed as scheduled,”
He added: “But we’ve gone ahead to adapt virtual procedures by which we are currently training our master trainers and plans are underway that we going to cascade the training to the lower level so we going to do virtual training for regional trainers, district trainers eventually the enumerators and the supervisors. So our preparatory activities are on course, we are currently done with the field work for the delineating the country to about 52,000 and enumeration areas.
