The legal Team Member of the NDC, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe on TV3’s Morning show, New Day alleged that, the conduct of President Akuffo Addo is consistently about his political survival.
He was speaking in response to Churches being reluctant to conduct their services after the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions on social gatherings.
According to Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, the conduct of the President is consistently about his political survival and not backed by science and data as he claimed.
He accused the President of lifting the restrictions to enable the NPP to endorse his candidature and also to enable the NIA and Electoral Commission to manipulate the systems in his favor.
In rebuttal to Lawyer Tamakloe’s accusations, The NPP Parliamentary Aspirant for Fanteakwa South Constituency Mr. Eric Twum, agreed that a decision was made at NEC to conduct the Parliamentary Primaries of which the modalities will be available on Friday.
In relation to Tamakloe’s allegations, Eric Twum has this to say “it is erroneous for anyone to suggest that the ease in the restrictions by the President were to make way for the Primaries.”
Lifting of the Social Gatherings Restriction
President Akuffo Addo in his 10th address on the measures taken against spread of Corona virus said; “An abridged format for religious services can commence. Twenty-five percent (25%) attendance, with a maximum number of one hundred (100) congregants, can worship at a time in church or at the mosque, with a mandatory one meter rule of social distancing between congregants,”.
One would have assumed that the above statement by the President would come as a sign relief for the religious groups in Ghana but many churches including Perez Chapel opt to remain closed.
