Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak has revealed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential candidate, John Mahama is set to announce his running mate few days to come.
According to Mubarak both the NDC party and candidate are ready to reveal who partners John Mahama as elections draw close.
In an interview with Bola Ray on StarrChat Ras Mubarak said, “the announcement will be made in the coming days now that the restrictions on public gathering have been relaxed. The candidate is ready and the party is also ready so in the coming days the announcement will be made.”
He however stressed that to avoid distraction, the flagbearer will not be dealing with a running mate who’ll seek to be president after him.
“He does not need a distraction. Not someone who will be marketing himself for the 2024 elections when we have a job to do. A young running mate will be promoting himself and competition for the next election. Bot Kwesi Botwe and Dr. Duffuor will be exciting running mate choice. You need stability, somebody who will be focused and not trying to be popular when there is still work to be done.”
Meanwhile the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has through their National Council has endorsed the candidature of President Akuffo Addo as party flagbearer ahead of the December elections.
General Secretary of the party, John Boadu announced the decision on Wednesday at the end of the Council’s meeting which had the President in attendance.
