2021 WASSCE Students Performed Better Than Under Mahama In 2016 – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo contrasted the results of the 2021 West African Senior Secondary School Examinations (WASSCE) to those of Former President John Dramani Mahama’s administration in 2016.

Mr Akufo-Addo said in a statement released by the Presidency’s Director of Communications, Mr Eugene Arhin, on Saturday, December 11 in response to the results, “The 2021 WASSCE results of the second batch of the Akufo-Addo graduates” show 54.08 percent of students recoding AI-C5 in English, compared to 51.6 percent in 2016.

In 2021, 65.7 percent of students will record AI-C6 in Integrated Science, compared to 48.35 percent in 2016, 54.11 percent in Mathematics, compared to 33.12 percent in 2016, and 66.03 percent in Social Studies, compared to 54.55 percent in 2016. Let us not forget that the 2021 class was the first to use the double track system, which drew a lot of vitriol and unwarranted criticism when it was first implemented.”

“A total of 1,339 subject results and 174 full results of some students who appeared for the 2021 WASSCE for School Candidates in Ghana have been revoked,” WAEC announced in a statement on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

“The whole results of 3,667 candidates have also been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into various incidences of examination malpractice discovered during and after the conduct of the examination,” the statement continued.

Additionally, applicants’ scripts in particular subjects from 194 schools have been withheld and are being reviewed.”
