2020 Polls: We Can’t Take IGP, Kan Dapaah’s Security Assurances Seriously – NDC

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that albeit taking notice of security assurances on election day by the IGP and National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, the party cannot trust them to deliver.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, NDC’s Director of Elections Elvis Afriyie Ankrah noted that occurrences under the President Akufo-Addo led administration gives them enough reason not to take the security assurances seriously.

“We have taken note of assurances given by the Minister for National Security, Mr Albert Kan Dapaah, and the IGP, Mr James Oppong Boanuh, that adequate security will be provided on election day,” he said.

“Ordinarily, we would have taken such assurances seriously. However, we regret to state that the conduct of the failed, corrupt and dishonest Akufo-Addo government so far has taught us that when they say we should look right, we must really look left,” he noted.
