You Will Lose 2024 Elections If E-Levy Goes Through – Alban Bagbin Warns NPP

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has warned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) that if the E-levy is authorized, they will most certainly lose the 2024 general elections.

“As you travel over Ghana persuading Ghanaians to vote for your party, others with deep funds are facilitating parties, and when you win power, they receive the jobs, not you.”

“So they don’t have that culture, they don’t have that understanding, and there’s a gap there.” They come to impose beliefs on you, such as voting in a way that prioritizes party interests above Ghana’s.

“We always vote ourselves out of power, as my NPP friends are doing right now.” So don’t be astonished if you don’t win the next election.

“It is quite apparent that if your E-levy passes, you will lose the elections,” he declared during a meeting of former legislators arranged at his request on Thursday, December 23.

His remarks come after Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu accused him of being to accountable for the recent events in Parliament.

Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu revealed that the Speaker had informed the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, that “his budget will be thrown out” if he did not allocate around 2% of the country’s total revenue to Parliament.
