You Must Be Ashamed Of Yourself – NPP Slams Mahama Over ‘Vigilante’ Comments

The ruling New Patriotic Party has admonished the opposition National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama over comments he made that suggested government has been sponsoring vigilante groups with arms instead of retooling the state’s security services.

John Mahama in a campaign tour in Accra noted that the NPP has given weapons to its party vigilantes to intimidate Ghanaians instead of buying armories and bullet proof vests for the security services.

In reaction, Chairperson of Parliament’s Defence Committee, Mr Seth Acheampong, in a press conference said John Mahama senses his defeat and therefore has decided to engage in irresponsible talks, adding that he ought be ashamed of himself.

“The comments by former President Mahama and the attempts by the NDC to politicise the nation’s security forces is irresponsible. His statements are totally false and unfounded, and he ought to be ashamed of himself,” he said.

“His message for change is not trusted by the public and it is because the people know better, and they know the difference between Akufo-Addo and John Mahama. The Ghanaian electorate must give John Mahama a clear, decisive, and incontestable defeat just like he received in the 2016 general elections. We must do better and make sure that he will have no excuse to attempt to cause trouble after the December 7 elections. Let us shut him up with the power of the thumb,” he added.
