You Can’t Involve My Son In Politics; He’s Too Young To Be In SHS – Adutwum

Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has refuted claims that he had enrolled his son in a private senior high school.

The Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament Dr. Clement Apaak had claimed that Mr Adutwum lost the right to defend the free senior high school after he enrolled his son in a private shs.

Mr Apaak called out the education minister to explain to Ghanaians why he would enroll his son in a private shs instead of the free shs policy he is superintending over.

“His decision to enrol his ward into a private rather than a public SHS suggests that he has no faith in the fSHS he superintendents over. If confirmed, such an action will be a betrayal and a confirmation of the belief that the challenges associated with the implementation of fSHS:

a) Inadequate space and, b) Overburdened teachers and non-teaching staff, c) Inadequate and unwholesome food, d) Erratic and haphazard academic calendar, f) Double track system and g) Culture of silence; have combined to adversely affect the quality of teaching and learning in our public secondary schools.

The Minister has lost the moral right to champion a programme he doesn’t have faith in and ought to do the needful by stepping aside,” he added.

Reacting to this, Mr Adutwum noted that politics has sunk so low wondering why his son will be involved.

He noted that he has no son who is old enough to be in SHS insisting Ghana has the best SHS in the public sector.

“Secondly, I don’t have a son who is old enough to be in a senior high school. So suffice it to say that I have no further comments. My son is not old enough to be in a senior high school. We have the best senior high schools in the public sector,” he said.
