Video: One Constituency, One ‘Borla’ – NPP MP Desperately Collects Rubbish For Votes
The practice of politicians pulling all sorts of unusual stunts during election seasons for votes is as old as Adam.
Canvassing for votes is just as important as the voting itself. However, Ghanaian politicians have always taken the process to absurd proportions.
From plaiting women’s hair to stirring banku, to desilting gutters which were otherwise choked, there appears to be no end to just what a Ghanaian politician can do to earn votes.
In this light, a video circulating on social media features men clad in NPP apparel, employing the services of a refuse collection truck to collect refuse (borla) of constituents purported to be in the Weija Gbawe Constituency.
In the video, you can hear the name of the NPP MP for Weija Gbawe, Madam Tina Mensah being mentioned as the person behind the unusual gesture of door-to-door ‘borla’ collection.

Just In: Mahama’s Lawyer Hot In Court For Failing To Obey The Orders Of The Supreme Court
Tony Lithur, lawyer for the petitioner in the 2020 Election Petition, John Dramani Mahama has come under severe fire this morning at the Supreme Court following his team’s failure to comply with the order of the Apex Court.
Legal team for John Mahama failed to comply with an order of the Supreme Court which instructed them to file witness statements pending the hearing of the substantive petition.
According to Mr Lithur, their failure to comply with the order of the Court is because of their review of the court’s earlier decision on their interrogatories.
However, a visibly unenthused seven-member panel would have none of the excuses.
After minutes of back and forth between the bench and Mr Lithur, the court has suspended sitting briefly to consider the issues.

But For Electoral Fraud NDC Would Have Won 2020 Polls – Haruna Iddrisu
Minority Leader for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has stressed that the party could have won the 2020 elections if it was not fraudulent.
Speaking at a symposium in Accra in memory of the party’s founder, late president Jerry John Rawlings, he charged party members to raise their heads high because the NDC remains a political force in the reckoning.
“To the NDC party, hold your heads high and hold your heads in pride that barely less than 30 days after the demise of a charismatic, popular [party Founder, the former President Rawlings], NDC could still, but for electoral fraud, win [the parliamentary] election [with] 137 [seats versus NPP also winning] 137 seats. This signifies that our party has been birthed and [is] a new political force in the reckoning.”
