Video: Manifestos Won’t Matter In This Year’s Elections – Gabby Otchere-Darko

Staunch Member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere Darko has insisted that both the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and NPP won’t need a manifesto to convince Ghanaians to vote for them in the December polls.

According to him both parties have had the chance to rule the country in recent times therefore their achievements and records will be of utmost concern to the Ghanaian.

Speaking on Citi TV Gabby said, “arguably this will be the easiest election for the Ghanaian voter to make a choice… It’s not about what I promise you the voter as a candidate because the promise must be measured based on what I did when I was in office. Manifestos are intentions. If you notice, it cuts across board.

Whichever democratic country you can look at, when it comes to the election, they don’t necessarily go and take every manifesto pledge so that’s why I’m talking about intention but the country can look at what you said you were going to do and then weigh that promise against the challenges, the opportunities and your delivery,” he noted.

He added, “”my point is that, the manifesto is as relevant particularly when the country has had the opportunity to assess the two…. Precisely! Manifestos may not matter as much as they did when Mahama was coming for the first time or when Akufo-Addo was coming for the first time.” Gabby said in validation of a statement the host, Umaru Sanda made in seeking clarification on whether manifestos will be of prominence in the upcoming December polls.”

The NPP General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu has announced August 22 as their manifesto launch.
