Till December 14, Wearing Nose Mask Is Compulsory – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has by an additional three months, extended the Executive Instrument (EI) making wearing of nose masks compulsory in Ghana.

In his 17th address on Covid-19 to the nation, he noted that the law be in effect till December 14, 2020.

“On Monday, 14 September 2020, I extended the Executive Instrument of the mandatory wearing of face masks by three months. So, until December 14, 2020, the wearing of masks remains mandatory. The law enforcement agencies will be required to ensure this directive is respected by all,” he said.

He continued: “It has served us well in the fight against COVID-19, so I urge each and every one of us to wear our mask and do so correctly anytime we leave our homes. This is the new normal requirement of our daily existence until the virus disappears.”

Fight For Yourselves Not Politicians, They Can’t Make Your Life Better – Shatta Wale Advises Electorates

Ahead of election 2020, Ghanaian dancehall crooner, Shatta Wale has advised voters to maintain the peace and stability in the country.

He has admonished party faithfuls to handle their differences in a more decorous manner other than using the route of physical fight.

In an interview on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty on Friday, October 30, Shatta stated that he found no reason why people will fight for politicians.

According to him, the politicians can’t change anyone’s life, therefore people should fight for themselves not politicians.

He added that people should just go cast their vote on December 7 and go home other than engaging in needless fights for politicians.

I Have Lost Trust And Hope In Akufo-Addo – Manasseh Azure Awuni

Renowned Investigative Journalist, and anti-corruption crusader, Manasseh Azure Awuni has revealed that he has lost trust and hope in President Akufo-Addo after the President failed to deal decisively with corruption since he ascended the highest office of the land.

Delivering an address at the Baah Wiredu Memorial lecture, the journalist lamented the continuous triumph of corruption in this country despite the ascension into the presidency of a man widely regarded as anti-corruption fighter.

Read excerpts of his address below

There was a GYEEDA scandal and the programme was suspended while certain actions were taken to clean up the mess, so there is a context to the decrease in numbers.

That GYEEDA scandal started with Kufuor who, for instance, handed Zoomlion that fraudulent NYEP contract in 2006. The Mahama/Mills administration made the GYEEDA rot worse.

One of the reasons I hated the Mahama regime was it failed to comprehensively deal with the GYEEDA rot. I was therefore happy when the NPP, on November 16, 2016, held a press conference on the GYEEDA rot, especially the Zoomlion contract.

They said Mahama could not abrogate it because he was benefitting from rots of that nature. Then the so-called incorruptible Akufo-Addo takes over. What did he do about that fraudulent and needless contract? Remember this contract said Zoomlion should go to Bongo and supervise sweepers employed by the government and receive 400 cedis out of the 500 cedis allocated to the sweepers?

The Akufo-Addo administration renewed that fraudulent contract. Yes, it was renewed. Note that since March 2013, there had not been a written agreement between the Government and Zoomlion. So by February 2019, that fraudulent deal cost the government 1.62 BILLION NEW GHANA CEDIS without a written agreement. This is one of the reasons I have lost trust and hope in Akufo-Addo. So Akufo-Addo is not different from Mahama. In this GYEEDA case, Mahama has proven to be far better than Akufo-Addo because he jailed people, cancelled contracts, enacted legislation that made GYEEDA cleaner. These are facts that cannot be contested.

Covid-19: I Had Sleepless Nights Because Of Ghanaian Students In China; What If They Were My Nephews? – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has revealed that he had sleepless nights in the wake of the novel coronavirus, particularly, with the Ghanaian students in China, the source of the virus.

Speaking to Paul Adom Otchere on Good Evening Ghana Thursday, the President disclosed that he was deeply worried and kept pondering on whether to make them return to the country or be confined in China.

According to him, he had the perception that the best thing to do was to confine them in China where the virus broke out however, he wondered what if those students were his nephews what would he have done?

“The students in China…whether they should come or not, I had a sleepless night on that matter. I was persuaded by the arguments that said when pandemics of such nature break out, it is better to confine people to where the thing happened rather than export them and move them around…and I said to myself what if one of these young people were your nephew, son or daughter, how would you feel?” he stated.
