The Court Must Seize Payment Of Assin North MP’s Salary – Lawyer Nana Serwaah Acheampong

Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Nana Serwaah Acheampong has said that, the court must seize payment of the monthly allowance of the Hon James Gyekye Quayson, the New Democratic Congress Member of Parliament elected in the 2020 elections.

According to her, the money paid to him since 2020 according to the law must be refunded.

“The high court made a decision and that should have been respected. He shouldn’t have gone to parliament and tagged himself as a Member of Parliament; the court must ensure he refunds all the money he has received. If you receive something you are not entitled to, you must refund”, She said

Lawyer Acheampong went on to say that, politics has caused some lawyers to forget their ethics. She admonished lawyers to put aside politics and act with professionalism, and should be particular about protecting the integrity of the Supreme Court.

Hon James Gyekye Quayson was accused of using false means to get his name registered  in the voters register, he voted in 2008 and went on to hold public office which was against the law of Ghana. The supreme court has ruled that the NDC member cannot hold himself as an MP.
