Speaker Rejects Majority’s Demand To Stop Vetting Till Revised Standing Orders Are Adopted By The House
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has rejected a suggestion from Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu for vetting of newly nominated ministers to be halted until the House adopts the revised standing orders.
The move is expected to change the 13:13 membership of the appointments committee as currently constituted.
Answering a question from North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the composition of outstanding committees during the adoption of the business committee report, the Suame MP argues composition of all other committees must be on ice until the new standing orders come into force.
Minority leader and ranking member for the committee on appointments Haruna Iddrisu demanded an immediate meeting of the committee to kickstart the process of soliciting for memoranda from the public on the nominees even in the absence of chair of the committee first deputy speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu
Also, deputy minority whip Ahmed Ibrahim questioned the basis for any suggestion of suspension of vetting for the adoption of the new standing orders.
The Speaker subsequently ruled the appointments committee in its current form must go commence processes towards vetting Nana Addo’s mimisterial nominees.

We’ll Sack Any MP Who Supports Homosexuality From Parliament – Sam George Vows
Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Constituency Samuel Nartey George has stressed that no legislator in Ghana’s Parliament can dare raise a voice in support of homosexuality in the country.
According to him any move by any MP to support it will lead to the sack.
“I dare any member of Parliament to stand up and say he will vote against our motion,” he said on TV3’s Midday Live on Sunday, March 7.
For him, “any MP who supports homosexuality has no business being a member of Parliament”.

There Was Understanding Between NDC And Our Parliamentary Leadership To Reject Hawa Koomson – Sammy Gyamfi
National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has indicated that the party and its leadership in Parliament had an understanding to reject Fisheries Minister designate, Mavis Hawa Koomosn in the interest of the nation.
According to him, Mrs Koomson’s performance at her vetting was obvious she is unfit for the job and therefore had to be rejected.
“There was an understanding between our party leadership and our people in Parliament in the interest of the nation, it was not in the interest of NDC. Because for a woman who carries a gun and fires it at a polling station, she doesn’t care whether people are killed and then when she mounts a platform, she incites people by telling them how-to beat-up others well. Truly she brought her thugs to beat up our Secretary,” he told Power FM on March 5.
He continued: “Today, I don’t want people to feel sad but a woman like that couldn’t even define fish farming. She is not fit to be minister. For a person like that it is not in the interest of the nation to approve her,” he added.

Clergy Declares War On Akufo-Addo’s Cathedral; Vows Not To Worship In A Building Designed By LGBTQ+ Advocate
Founder and Presiding Bishop of Gospel Light International Church, Rt. Rev. Matthew Addae – Mensah has declared that no Christian will be worshipping in President Akufo-Addo’s National Cathedral which is being built by an LGBTQ advocate.
This comes after reports that Sir David Adjaye, the architect of the Cathedral backed the legalisation and recognition of LGBTQ+ groups in the country.
Reacting to this, Rev Addae according to mynewsgh, indicated that Mr Adjaye had shown disrespect to the Christian values and the country’s culture there he’s not fit to build the cathedral.
‘I believe, for Sir David Adjaye throwing his support for the LGBTQ+ Community in Ghana means he has no respect for Christians and the cultural values of Ghana’,” he was quoted by mynewsgh.
There are equally better architectures in Ghana who can do the project. He should resign. David Adjaye has shown that he has no respect for the Christian community in Ghana. He has clearly demonstrated that there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom.”
“Since he cherishes and values such abominable foreign practices then I have the right to say that he is not fit to be granted the honour by the President of the land to handle a holy edifice such as the National Cathedral.”
