Six Ghana Black Stars Players Test Positive For COVID-19

Six players of Ghana’s Black Stars have had a positive test for the deadly novel coronavirus after the two friendly games against Mali and Qatar in Antalya, Turkey.

Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Bernard Mensah, Kasim Nuhu, Caleb Ekuban and Joseph Aidoo have all tested positive upon their return to their various European clubs from international duty.

Black Stars Management Committee member, Jones Abu Alhassan, who also travelled to Turkey as part of Ghana’s contingent has also tested positive and is under isolation.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reacted to the news of the COVID-19 infections among the players.

The GFA in a statement explained that it adhered to all COVID-19 preventive protocols before, during and after the team’s stay in Turkey.

The FA wished all the affected players and staff a speedy recovery.
