Show Me A Single Demonstration In Ghana Without Burning Of Tyres – Pratt To Police

Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper has wondered why the police is going after lawmaker for Madina Constituency, Francis Xavier Sosu for leading a demonstration which saw the burning of tyres in his area.

According to Mr Pratt, the police’s reason for chasing the MP makes no sense because there is no demonstration without the burning of tyres.

Speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive he said burning of tyres characterises demonstrations and wondered why the police are not going after the protesters for singing as well.

“I have not witnessed a demonstration without the burning of tyres. I do not buy the idea that the demonstrators did not tell the Police that they will burn tyres and so the fact that they burnt tyres they should be arrested. Did the letter by the demonstrators say that they will not sing, but they sang, so should they be arrested?”, Kwesi Pratt quizzed.

Mr Sosu had been wanted by the police after leading his constituents to demonstrate last week.

He had escaped police arrest after his people ensured the police never held him captive. The police further went to his church last Sunday to allegedly apprehend him, however, he once again escaped.

Although seeking the permission of Parliament, Speaker Alban Bagbin has noted that he cannot hand over the MP to the police.
