In a notable display of early support, Mr. Sammi Awuku, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Akuapem North Constituency in the Eastern Region, has garnered backing from influential traditional authorities even before appearing on the ballot.
During his inaugural visit to the constituency following his resounding acclamation a week ago, prominent Chiefs of the Akuapem Traditional Council voiced their endorsement of Awuku, praising his dedication to the constituency’s development. The Chiefs urged constituents to cast their votes in his favor during the parliamentary elections slated for December 2024.
Despite not yet holding the position of Member of Parliament (MP), Awuku’s track record of initiating substantial development projects across the constituency has won over the local leadership. The Chiefs emphasized that his ongoing efforts make him a deserving candidate to lead the constituency, particularly in addressing the needs of underserved communities.
Last week, Mr. Sammi Awuku, also the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), fulfilled a promise made during the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the Mamfe Chief. He commissioned a state-of-the-art basketball and volleyball court at the Okuapeman School in Akropong. The Chief of Mamfe and Kyidomhene of the Akuapem Traditional Council, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, publicly declared his support for Awuku, citing the unexpected but welcomed projects undertaken by the aspiring MP.
In a further demonstration of commitment, Awuku recently cut the sod for two separate 16-seater toilets in Larteh for two different communities, earning the full endorsement of sub-chiefs who urged residents to vote for him.
Addressing the Chiefs at the Okuapeman School, Awuku expressed his satisfaction in delivering on his promise. He highlighted the international standard of the multipurpose sports facilities commissioned, emphasizing his desire to replicate such projects in other Senior High Schools within the Akuapem block over the next four years.
With the constituency being a stronghold of the NPP and the evident support from local constituents, Sammi Awuku is positioned as a formidable contender for victory in the parliamentary elections of 2024.
