Reinstating MCE For Sekondi-Takoradi Apt – Kpemka

A former deputy attorney general, Joseph Dindiok Kpemka has said the decision by President Akufo-Addo to reinstate the MCE for Sekondi Takoradi is in the right direction.

Abdul Mumin Issah was suspended in February after spending one night in police custody for a road traffic offence and alleged assault of a police officer.

Speaking with Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (31 August), Kpemka said, “Now, having suspended him for some months … the president is pleased with what has happened and he is satisfied that after the suspension, the MCE would have learnt his lessons…

“And the conduct he put up, which attracted public outrage and condemnation will not be repeated if he gets into office and it also sends a signal to others that if you conduct yourself in that manner, you will suffer the fate that was suffered by the MCE.”

Kpemka added, “In fact, if he had been dismissed, I would have seen it with the greatest respect as high-handedness and it would have been an extreme form of punishment.”
