Issues surrounding the 2022 budget is about to get even murkier after a private citizen, Richard Sky filed two writs at the Supreme Court challenging the parliamentary decisions of November 26 and 30, 2021.
Richard Sky, a journalist and lawyer has caused his lawyers to file two writs at the Supreme Court asking the apex court to declare proceedings of both 26 November and 30 November as unconstitutional.
The NDC caucus, on 26th November 2021, after a majority boycott, unanimously voted to reject the 2022 budget as presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
Subsequently, on 30th November 2021, the NPP caucus, after a minority boycott also voted to overrule the earlier decision by the minority caucus and adopted the budget which had earlier been rejected.
However, Mr. Richard Sky is praying the Supreme Court to declare those two decisions as unconstitutional.
