President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled significant national security appointments as part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen Ghana’s security framework. The appointments, announced on January 15, 2025, feature seasoned professionals with extensive experience in security and governance.

Key Appointments

  • National Security Advisor: Former Chief of Staff Prosper Douglas Bani has been appointed as the National Security Advisor to the President. Mr. Bani, who also served as Minister for the Interior, brings a wealth of experience in coordinating security policies and governance. His expertise is expected to play a critical role in shaping and implementing the nation’s security strategies.
  • National Security Coordinator: Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul-Osman Razak will assume the role of National Security Coordinator.   • Director of Operations at the Presidency: Commissioner of Police (retired) Nathan Kofi Boakye has been appointed as Director of Operations at the Presidency.   • Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB): Charles Kipo will lead the NIB as its Director General. His role will involve overseeing intelligence gathering and analysis, providing critical insights to inform national security decisions.
