It is without any doubt that the election season is for the politician. The season presents our politicians the uninterrupted opportunity to get closer to the electorates and seek to rally their support and votes.

Interestingly, in recent times, the season has also presented massive opportunities for celebrities with huge following to cash out on their popularity.

This portal looks at 5 of such celebrities who have ditched the NDC to support the NPP for various reasons.

  1. Afia Schwarzenegger

Arguably, the most controversial of them all. Afia Schwarzenegger, until recently a self-confessed die-hard fan of NDC flagbearer John Mahama, recently switched allegiance to the NPP and has been firing all manner of salvos at the NDC since.

2. Lucky Mensah

Previously, an ardent supporter of the NDC, Lucky Mensah crossed carpet to the NPP, claiming that the songs he did for the NDC did not fetch him enough money.

3. Empress Gifty Adorye

Probably influenced by her marriage to NPP parliamentary candidate, Hopeson Adorye, the prolific gospel musician ditched the NDC for the NPP.

4. Samini

Dancehall musician Samini joined forces with other celebrities to campaign for the NPP. He even hopped on a beat and recorded a song for the political party. It is rumored that some GHc500,000 exchanged hands in order to win Samini over.

5. Prince David Osei

Actor Prince David Osei was recently given the opportunity to speak at the virtual rally of the New Patriotic Party. Under the influence of excitement, the actor said he decided to follow NPP because he is sensible.
