Persecution Of The Church Will Be One Of Your Achievements – APCC Tells Nana Addo

Published

on

The Association of Pentecostal and Charismatic Clergy (APCC) have accused Nana Akuffo-Addo and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of instigating a sustained attack against Christians.

The APCC claimed in a press statement dated, August 4, that “for almost 4 years, the church had faced stiff opposition from this government.”

In the statement signed by the association’s general secretary, Rev. John Armah, the clerics states that the Akufo-Addo led administration has targeted “almost every influential Man of God in this Nation” immediately after coming into office.

A portion of their statement read, “Strange and unimaginable inquisitions of Reverend Ministers and Bishops were vigorously pursued. That was the initial attempt to seek to get ‘dirt’ of them and eventually use it as a point to blackmail them if they should dare speak up at any point.”

“Fast forward, the current state of affairs points to an unwritten decree and rule in Ghana that no one, be you a professional in your field of endeavor or a Pastor, big or small, must say anything that disagrees with the government or the current ruling political class.

“This muzzling of free speech and opinion and a subtle attempt at censoring the Clergy must be resisted with righteous indignation,” the clerics asserted.

In a post on Facebook, Mr Korsi said the government had absorbed 50% of 3 months electricity bills for the citizenry; and now on a move to provide funds for suffering companies, yet, it has refused to approve the authorisation of media outlets whose staff have been rendered jobless for past the 3 years.

“You gave citizens free food which cost the nation GH58 million.

“You paid 50% of three months electricity bills of citizens.

“You are now ready to give money to suffering companies.

“But not ready to approve the authorization of radio stations whose staff have been home for the past three years.”, the disgruntle manager criticized in a post on Facebook.

Okada Legalisation Is Already ‘Dead On Arrival’ – Civil Engineer

Published

on

A renowned Civil Engineer, Mahama Abdulai (Ing) has warned legalising Okada will only worsen the already numerous road safety issues in the country.

According to him, the country is already plagued with many non-functioning road safety laws such as seat belts for commercial vehicles and it is likely that okada, even when legalised will still be abused and become a lawless venture.

“I have benefited from Okada when I was coming from Nsawam and got stuck in a traffic jam regardless of setting off three (3) hours before time. Though it helps, we should not legalize Okada usage in the country,” he said on Happy FM’s Happy Morning Show.

He believes that if regulations are even put in place to regulate the business, it will amount to nothing. “Few years ago, all the commercial vehicles (trotros) were mandated to have seatbelts fixed in all seats but do we see that now? How many vehicles have seatbelts for passengers?” he quizzed.
