Ofori Atta’s Budget Review Full of Manifesto Promises – Minority

The Minority in Parliament has described the mid year budget review presented on July 23, to Parliament by Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta as a document filled with manifesto promises.

They further urged Ghanaians not to raise their hopes high because the budget will bring nothing.

Speaking to the press, Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Cassiel Ato Forson said, “the mid-year budget review is not for manifestos. It is for him to review the existing budgets, not for him to come and read to us a new budget, what he has done actually means that he has introduced manifesto promises into the official document.”

He added, “I’m surprised and I’m actually urging the ordinary Ghanaian to be mindful that this mid-year budget review brings about nothing.”

Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta announced plans by government to go ahead with the year of roads project despite the Covid-19 pandemic. He also explained how the economy has been faring in the pandemic.

He disclosed that government will further extend the provision of free water and subsidised electricity bills for all Ghanaians for another three months.
