Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta is expected to appear before Parliament on Wednesday July 21, 2021 to answer questions on the costs of travel of the President.

This comes after North Tongu lawmaker, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa had alleged that President Akufo-Addo spent a whooping GH¢2.8 Million of taxpayers money on a private jet to his recent trips to France and Johannesburg,

In a post on Facebook, the legislator said the president decided to rent an aircraft that cost the Ghanaian taxpayer £15,000 an hour.

According to Starr FM, Mr Ablakwa confirmed his allegations; stressing he has evidence to back it should the Presidency deny.

He further added that the President left Accra for Paris on the 16th of May and then from Paris to Johannesburg and back to Accra on the 25th of May accumulating a total of 23 hours amounting to a colossal £345,000. At the current exchange, the amount totals GH¢2,828,432.80.

Mr Ofori-Atta who has since the allegations been called to answer questions on the President’s travels had been pleading for more time.

The North Tongu MP disclosed last Friday that Finance Minister has been scheduled for Wednesday.

“I hope that the Finance Minister will be candid, transparent and unimpeachably sincere with the House after the rigmarole,” Mr. Ablakwa said.
