Embattled National Women’s Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Kate Gyamfua has denied claims that she’s involved in galamsey.

According to her, the company which she works for, Xtra Gold Mining Company, of which she is the Managing Director is law compliant, pay taxes and does not engage in illegality.

In a video reported by ghanaweb, the NPP woman could be seen bursting into uncontrollable tears amidst the singing of worship songs during a meeting with some members of the party.

Addressing the meeting, Madam Gyamfua said, “at [the] right time, we will bring out all our documents showing our compliance to tax obligations. We have not taken from the state and neither are we involved in galamsey. I can’t disgrace our party. I am fully behind the president and the party and I am against galamsey just as every Ghanaian is. I would’ve run away if I was involved in illegality. I wouldn’t have sat for them to come and meet me.”

Excavators and other mining concessions belonging to Mrs Gyamfua and her company were burnt by the military taskforce fighting galamsey.

The Military again on Monday May 17, 2021 returned to the site to burn other equioments that skipped them.

According to a report by Starr FM, the taskforce burnt a faulty excavator and a large water pumping machine which escaped their notice on Sunday when they set fire into 8 excavators, a bulldozer and dozens of water pumping machines on the same site.

Again, they burnt other excavators which were not properly burnt after their first operation at the site.

Nana Asante Boadi Yeboah, a worker at the mining site narrated to Starr News that, “because of what they did last three days we were at home when we had calls that they’ve come again, they came and had our two machines re-burnt. So far they’ve burnt about 9 to 10 machines on our site.”

“We had about 150 pumping machines, they have burnt all ..the biggest pumping machine that we use to rotate the water has also been burnt”.
