General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has claimed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), sensing that their candidate, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye was losing the Speakership contest pleaded with the NDC to issue a joint statement with them claiming he opted out.

In a press conference on Friday, the NDC stalwart asserted that the NPP wanted to do everything to run away from the disgrace that had befallen them however, the NDC didn’t give in.

“The NPP while jaw jawing with the NDC leadership in Parliament said the President will be disgraced by the results so we should issue a statement saying that Prof. Mike Ocquaye opted out of the contest at a point,” he noted.
