Nobody Can Force Akufo-Addo Not To Appoint Old Men – Abronye DC
Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Abronye DC has noted that President Akufo-Addo cannot be compelled to shun old men as appointees in his second term.
This comes after several calls from some Ghanaians that the President ahead of official announcement of appointed ministers and appointees, should avoid old men.
Abronye DC, however, in a statement disagreed with such calls insisting some of the old men are worth retaining.
“In as much as we the youth of this country especially those of us in the New Patriotic Party deserve a fair share of the National cake, I deem it unfair to say that, all “old men” or aged persons in President Akufo Addo’s first term should not be reappointed. YES! some of them must go but many of them must be retained”, he stated.
“The anxiety of foot soldiers surrounding the President’s list of new appointees in restructuring his government is one which cannot be ignored and same is indeed in the right direction because, it is the foot soldiers who have ensured that we are where we are today”, he added.
He emphasized that: “I entirely associate myself to the fact that Prez Nana Addo’s appointments in reconstituting his government should feature more persons who fall within the youthful category but that is not to say that, all old men should be sacked from the government.”
Abronye backed his argument: “There were several others whose experience in leadership and governance is one which cannot also be swept under the carpet.
Some of these old persons such as Kan Dapaah, Hon Frema Opare, Osafo Marfo, Hon Alima Mahama, etc are persons who have served in previous governments and have gained vast experience in the steering of affairs of our dear country”.

NDC Consults Council Of Elders Over Issues In Parliament
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged party members to be circumspect with their utterances in order not to play into the hands of detractors waiting to exploit the current uneasy situation in the country.
This follows an emergency meeting of the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party, on March 4, to discuss recent developments relating to the work of the NDC Caucus in Parliament regarding the approval of the President’s nominees for a number of ministerial positions.
A statement signed by Mr. Kakra Essamuah, the Director of Communications, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said: “The FEC is of the considered view that whatever the disappointments and disagreements may be, especially from among the rank and file of the Party, care should be taken not to allow these to degenerate into unnecessary bickering at the expense of party discipline and cohesion”.
“We are also of the view that urgent action is required to deal with the matter and consequently we have initiated a consultation process with the Party’s Council of Elders in this regard. It is in our collective interest…to address challenges facing the Caucus Leadership and the Backbench as a whole.”
It said the task would be tackled expeditiously so as to preserve the unity, cohesion, and resilience of the NDC Parliamentary Caucus.
“We remain confident that the party will emerge from this more united and focused….as the NDC pursues its vision of a more egalitarian and inclusive Ghana,” the statement said.

I Swear By The Holy Qur’an, Nobody Bribed Me – NDC MP Replies Sammy Gyamfi
Member of Parliament for Ejura Sekyeredumase Constituency, Muhammad Bawah Braimah, has debunked claims that he absented himself from Parliament on the 3rd of March due to financial inducements with respect to approval of ministerial nominees.
It would be recalled that after the House voted to approve all the vetted nominees for ministerial positions on Wednesday night, Communications Officer of the NDC, Mr Sammy Gyamfi called for an immediate shakeup in the leadership of the NDC MPs in parliament.
According to the NDC stalwart, they’ve lost their moral authority to lead and are not fit to sit on the front bench of the NDC side of the house for failing to adhere to the party’s directive to vote against some of the nominees especially those with security portfolios.
Mr Sammy Gyamfi accused the NDC caucus in Parliament of being bribed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to approve all the vetted nominees.
Reacting to Sammy Gyamfi‘s allegations in a statement forwarded exclusively to Hotfmghana.com, Hon. Muhammad Bawah Braimah, the MP for Ejura Sekyeredumase Constituency indicating that:
“Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have commented on this issue but attempts are being made to tarnish my image for my absence in parliament on the 3rd of March. Let me make it clear that my absence is not due to any financial inducements with respect to approval of ministerial nominees”.
According to Hon Bawa Braimah,”To refer to me as a betrayer is most unfortunate. Someone Who has sacrificed to keep this party alive and make it attractive in this constituency even to my own detriment and that of my family. I was in Ejura upon a referral made to me by Nana Ejurahene to resolve an impasse between the new chief Imam and Sarikin Zango, which had the potential to result in a conflict.
He emphasised that “Secondly, no indication was made available to us as MPs that the first report of the appointment committee would be considered on that day Each and every constituent knows I’m not an absentee MP and more so if there was no indication the report will be taken that day Let me state hear that I swear by the Holy Qur’an that nobody approached me with any financial inducements and I came to Ejura to save a situation and reported my presence to the constituency chairman who even joined us at the palace I leave everything to Allah and wish to emphasize that I’m not a betrayer and will never be a betrayer”.

MP for Asawase, and minority chief whip in parliament, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has warned his compatriot, Sammy Gyamfi not to bring his arrogance around.
The honourable MP was reacting to comments made on social media by the NDC communications officer in which he accused the leadership of the NDC caucus in parliament of betraying the NDC for their selfish interest.
After Parliament passed the first batch of President Akufo-Addo’s nominees, three of whom had initially been rejected by the minority, Sammy Gyamfi took to his social media account to label the minority caucus as traitors.

However, reacting to the sequence of events on Kumasi-based Zuria FM, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka reminded Sammy Gyamfi that he does not love the NDC more than the leadership of the minority.
“Don’t try to extend your crass arrogance and disrespect to my territory. When did you join the party and what is your contribution to be spewing nonsense against hardworking people who have kept this party from 1992 till date”. Muntaka said.
