Deputy Campaign Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alex Segbefia has stated that the party has disbanded all its vigilante groups insisting they’re not recognised as part of the party.

The NDC had notable vigilante groups like Azorka boys, Hawks, among others who were claimed to be protecting the interest of the party.

Speaking in an interview Mr Segbefia insisted the party have been given instructions not to recognise these groups anymore.

“We have been given instructions clearly for all these groups to be disbanded and they are not recognized by the party. So as far as we are concerned they have been disbanded. We will not allow ourselves to be associated with this, and we will never sanction any [vigilante] actions,” he claimed.

He added, “We are not ready to compete with the current game going on.”

“When we went for the peace council, the Ayawaso West Wuogon exposed a situation which is difficult to deal with…where vigilantism were armed in the security services.”
