Former NDC MP for Akwatia Constituency, Baba Jamal has sought to offer clarity on the NDC’s manifesto promise of providing morgues in Zongo Communities; a promise which the NDC claims has been mischievously distorted.
According to the former legislator, who is also a Muslim cleric, Prophet Muhammed (SAW) in his teachings declared that Sallah, marriage, and burial rites should be performed immediately without delay.
“Prophet Mohammed said that there are three things that must be addressed immediately when they happened. The first thing which must not be delayed is the time for Sallah, marriage rites, and the third one is when someone dies the person must be buried immediately because he is not part of the living and that is why Muslims don’t keep the dead in morgues, but due to law and technology, it has become necessary that we will keep dead bodies at the morgue for doctors to conduct postmortems”. He said.
Speaking on Okay FM, Baba Jamal explained that the NDC manifesto is a product of consultations and engagements with the people, hence the introduction of such promise.
Baba Jamal defended the NDC’s manifesto promise of establishing morgues in Zongo communities even though it is against the tenets of Islam because according to him, technology and law requires that postmoterm is carried out on dead bodies.
