A Member of the Finance Committee in Parliament, Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah has hinted that the E- Levy is expected to be implemented on February 1, 2022 after Parliament approval.

According to Hon. Adomako Mensah, the government will lay down a system to monitor the revenue before the implementation.

In an interview on Wontumi TV, he expressed a fervent hope that when Parliament resumes sitting on January 18th, tempers will cool for the smooth passage of the E- Levy.

The Afigya-Kwabere North MP reiterated that the 2022 budget has been approved by the Appropriations bill.

He said the government will have the mandate to pay salaries to workers, introduce new programs to augment the existing programs next year.

Meanwhile, according to him, the chaos that transpired at the Chamber of Parliament during the E- Levy voting was political.

He added that it was a calculated attempt.

“Speaker came to Parliament on Monday morning and left in the afternoon. And he knew on Tuesday there would be E-Levy voting but he didn’t show up,” Hon. Adomako Mensah explained.
