Ministerial Vetting: Suhuyini Produces Video Evidence To Challenge Akufo-Addo Appointee
MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, is challenging the minister-designate for Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, on his denial that he did not mean in plain terms that he was tired of executing his duties as a minister in charge of health due to the ravages caused by the coronavirus.
He said that based on past instances when the minister-designate had presented falsehood, he doubted his claims that he was misquoted and as such, he was tendering in the available evidence he had on exactly what Agyeman Manu said in his native Bono language.
Suhuyini, therefore, challenged the nominee to eschew truthfulness in his assertions.
“Public officials have a duty to be candid and also to be honest. The nominee is before us and has in Bono, told this honourable Committee what he said. Mr. Chairman, I have what the honourable nominee said on tape. I have it on pen drive and what the honourable nominee claims he said, as repeated on this is not true and Mr. Chairman, with your permission, I’d like us to playback and compare what is on tape and what he claimed he said at the place.
“This is important because the honourable nominee is putting on record again to have said that there was no generator at the University of Ghana Medical Center. It turned out not to be true. The honourable member is on record to have claimed not have coronavirus at the time he had it and it turned out not to be true.
However, the chairman of the Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu refused the request, stating that the Tamale North MP must be guided by the procedures that are involved with tendering anything that must be played during their sittings.

Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Obiri Boahen has indicated that the lawyers for the petitioner in the ongoing 2020 Presidential polls did not help matters.
According to him the lawyers failed the petitioner in presenting a valid case before the court.
He furthered that witnesses for the petitioner also failed to convince the court with their statements.
“Lawyers of Mahama failed to prosecute the case well. That is the truth everyone is failing to speak. People are afraid to tell Mahama the truth. His lawyers failed to prosecute the case well. Legally speaking, the case was not well handled,” he was quoted by rainbowradioonline.
Lawyer Obiri Boahen however, noted that the EC could be summoned by Parliament to explain the errors in the Presidential results.

Video: Koku Anyidoho’s Wife Narrates How Koku Sacked Her From Their Home After The Death Of Their 9-Year Old Daughter
There seems to be a storm brewing in the home of former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Koku Anyidoho as his wife has emerged to accuse him of throwing her out of their matrimonial home.
Jennifer Boahemaa Yeboah told GhanaWeb in an exclusive interview yet to be aired on the #SayItLoud programme that, following months of emotional abuse and negligence from her husband, Mr Anyidoho sent her packing from their home.
It will be recalled that Madam Jennifer was involved in a car accident in November last year which resulted in the loss of their 8-year-old daughter.
She furthered that Mr Anyidoho abandoned her after the accident, taking away their only surviving son because he blamed her for the death of their daughter.
The estranged wife recounted to GhanaWeb, how shortly after being discharged from the hospital, while arrangements were being carried out for the burial of their daughter, the former NDC General Secretary sent bottles of schnapps to her parents in the company of some friends to dissolve their marriage after their marriage of about 6 years
She noted that her family took receipt of the drinks to be used as evidence when the two families formally met to deliberate on the matter.
Madam Jennifer told GhanaWeb that what broke the camel’s back was events that occurred on Tuesday, February 23. She noted that while she was away, Mr Anyidoho packed some of her belongings from their matrimonial home and sent it to her mother’s house in a KIA truck on her blind side.
“Sending an unknown driver to bring some of my things without anyone’s knowledge, and the marriage has not been dissolved officially, I don’t know what to say… I was there yesterday trying to sort out a few things at my new apartment when I got a call from my 78-year-old mother that a KIA truck is here with some few things that Anyidoho said they should bring it…” she told GhanaWeb.
Meanwhile, Mr Koku Anyidoho is yet to respond to the allegations. When GhanaWeb reached out to him, he was unavailable.

It’s Unfortunate Mahama Dragged Us To Court Over Harmless Mistake – EC Lawyers File Closing Address
The lawyers of the Electoral Commission (EC), first respondent in the ongoing petition hearing say it is unfortunate that they were dragged to court by the NDC’s 2020 Presidential Candidate, John Mahama.
According to them, the harmless mistake made by EC boss, Jean Mensah while declaring the election results on December 9 had no bearing on the outcome of the election which has triggered the petition.
They further stated that the former President has failed to provide any evidence whatsoever to challenge the election results and for that matter, the declaration of the result and hence, they are calling on the court to dismiss the petitioner’s case.
The submission is contained in the written closing address filed by the lawyers in compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders.
The Apex court on Monday announced it will deliver judgment on the election petition on Thursday, March 4.
Mr Mahama had filed a petition rejecting the election results as declared December 9 stating that none of the candidates who contested the December 7 polls including himself met the constitutional threshold of obtaining more than 50% of the valid votes cast.
The Electoral Commission and President Akufo-Addo were named as respondents in the petition as required by law.
The former President’s lawyers in the course of the trial served the EC with a document asking that it admits certain facts including that its chairperson announced 13.4 million as valid votes cast while handing President Akufo-Addo, 6.7 million votes.
They say the failure of the EC to admit or rebut these facts within 14 days as required by law means the facts have been admitted.
An admission of these facts they argue means President Akufo-Addo did not obtain more than 50% of the votes cast.
They are therefore urging the Supreme Court to on March 4, direct the Electoral Commission to organise a run-off between President Akufo-Addo and Mr Mahama.
