Mahama’s Call For Debate With Akufo-Addo Childish And Pointless – Pius Hadzide

Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide has slammed former president John Dramani Mahama for calling out President Akufo Addo to debate him one-on-one.

Speaking on GBC Radio’s ‘Behind the News’, Pius described the call as childish and pointless, insisting the debate is already going on and if the former president has anything to say, he should tell Ghanaians.

This comes after Mr Mahama while addressing residents in the Ketu South constituency as part of his tour in the Volta region said he’s ready to face President Akufo Addo in an open debate.

“I am willing to present myself for a debate with President Akufo-Addo any day, anytime, anywhere. And we will settle the matter once and for all,” he said.

“In 2016, when I was talking of the value of infrastructure my people on the other said we don’t eat infrastructure nor roads. Today I can see a scramble for even KVIPs and any infrastructure and tout it as an achievement,” he added.

In response, Pius Enam Hadzide stated that if the President was to seek his advice he would say the invitation is ‘pointless, childish and unnecessary’.

“The Vice President has set out a debate so if you say that unless Nana Akufo Addo come and sit in a chair in front of you, you won’t account to the people of Ghana then that is rather childish.”

“It is very disrespect for him to adopt that attitude. If he doesn’t have a record to share, at least I think the honest thing to do is, he must admit to the people of Ghana that he has nothing to offer”, he added.
