Former President John Dramani Mahama has been vindicated after the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Samuel Dubik Mahama confirmed that the former President has been paying his own electricity bills.

Former President Mahama came under severe backlash from NPP communicators and footsoldiers in 2022 when he claimed that all he receives from government is his monthly pension and that all other bills mandated by law to paid by the state are not paid.

Mr. Mahama claimed in the said interview that he has been forced to take up himself, the settlement of a myriad of bills including; light, office rent, fuel and travel expenses.

Responding to a question during an interview on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme, Samuel Dubik Mahama, Managing Director of the ECG said that the Company collates all the bills of former Presidents and forwards same to the office of the chief of staff for payment, however, in the case of President Mahama, they realized that he has been paying his bills himself.

Mr. Dubik Mahama was quick to add that the fault lies with the staff of the ECG, as all bills of former Presidents are supposed to be forwarded to the office of the chief of staff for payment.

According to Mr. Dubik Mahama, the ECG will henceforth hold a discussion with former President Mahama so that his subsequent bills are forwarded to the Chief of Staff for settlement.
